Happy Birthday to the Fort Worth District Team!

FW BirthdayAs the Fort Worth District celebrates its 67th anniversary on April 16, I know that you can look back on a year of great accomplishments! You have continued your great tradition of outstanding service to our Nation, excelling as a team of professionals and in numerous projects and programs.

In the past year, Fort Worth District reopened many of its parks and recreation areas damaged by earlier flood events, as you also worked to restore structures and embankments. The $8 million slide repair at Lewisville Dam is only one example of the $18 million in contracts for slide and erosion repairs awarded or completed—great success on work that is so vital to the safety and welfare of our local communities.

Also in the “big” category was completing the Fort Polk Land Acquisition, the largest land acquisition since World War II and a tremendous accomplishment for both the Fort Worth District and the U.S. Army. You defined the term “delivering on commitments” with the completion of the Fort Hood Hospital, the Lackland Ambulatory Care Center, and the Maneuver Systems Sustainment Center (MSSC) at Red River Army Depot. You did and continue to do great work for the Customers and Border Protection, Veterans Affairs, FEMA, and all our other strategic partners.

None of these projects happen without people, and Fort Worth District team members certainly were among the many award winners we saw within the Division. There are too many to list by name, but from individual USACE award winners to the GreenGov Presidential Award for Green Innovation, your District has surely set a standard for others to look to.

So, for your hard-earned achievements and great people—in the past year and the past 67 years— we wish you a Happy Birthday, Fort Worth District!
