Truscott Brine Lake is a part of the Red River Chloride Control Project, which was designed to reduce chloride contamination of the Red River.  Salt water from the South Fork of the Wichita River is pooled up using an inflatable dam is pumped through a 22-mile pipeline into Truscott Lake which is totally contained with no means of discharging water. The surface area is large enough that it evaporates as much water as is being pumped into the lake.
