1st Lt. David Sanchez

1st Lt. David Sanchez has been the Military Personnel Officer, Readiness and Contingency Operations Section, Southwestern Division, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, since March 16, 2015.

Sanchez, a Los Angeles, Calif., native, counts among his regular duties processing all service members’ administrative actions such as in-processing, out-processing, finance issues, financial and officer evaluation reports, slotting, manning, medical, dental, military awards, synchronizing all Southwestern Divisions events on the master calendar, assist operations during hurricanes, storms, floods, or any other natural disaster, and any other additional duties as assigned.

A first generation American, Sanchez’ parents emigrated from Mexico. He has been a member of the U.S. Army for seven years. He was inspired to become a Soldier in order to “to fight for people who can’t fight for themselves, to travel, and for the adventure.”

He graduated from R.L. Paschal High School, Fort Worth, Texas in 2007. He subsequently attended Texas Christian University, also in Fort Worth, graduating in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. He is currently pursuing a master’s in Intelligence Studies with an emphasis in Intelligence Operations at the American Military University in Washington D.C.

Proud of his Hispanic roots, Sanchez enjoys having knowledge of different customs and traditions, knowing a second language, and enjoying different foods that may not be commonly known.

Sanchez enjoys weight lifting, running, reading, cooking out, and spending time with his family. He has a PitBull/Boxer mix dog named Rockie.

When talking about his USACE family he says, “The Corps has great people with warm hearts and personalities. Their sense of work ethic is radiating.”
